"The label you give yourself cannot impact external forces that are not motivated by your own psychology or influenced by a third party's pre-existing consciousness of you. We are all presented with reasons to struggle which come from completely external forces; to pretend that one is not struggling is either arrogance or an admission of defeat. To admit that one is struggling is a sign and a source of strength." - Evan A. Baker

BOOKED IT!

So as I said here, I'm pretty sure the other girl I auditioned with got the role I wanted and thought I had aced. She looked 22 and so did one of the other guys reading for the role and I thought, they'd make a cute, believable couple. I'd buy that.

Onwards and upwards, you know?

But yesterday, at about 1:30, I get a call from the director. "Hey Lira, we wanted to know if you'd accept the role of Sam for our pilot presentation."

Would I accept a series lead for a project that's getting pitched to networks? Me? Little ole me?

YES, YES I WOULD ACCEPT!

And I did!

I booked:

 SAMANTHA MCNALLY

(23 - 25) – Female, Caucasian, attractive. Sam is a native to Los Angeles and is best friends with Clare. She works as a personal assistant to a Life Coach. She’s fun and witty, but is still unsure what she wants out of love.  Sam is Dylan's girlfriend.

Pretty neat, right? I always love going back to the character background. I get to play witty and fun! I get to play attractive! I get to play 23-25! Woo Hoo!

After I was finished with Sky News last night, the director T and producer Matt came to my work to hand off the pilot script. I was already off so I sat down with them and we talked shop. When the hostess came by to turn the tv next to us onto Discovery Health so we could watch the recreated events show Postpartum Nightmares, that I was in, I just had to take a moment to appreciate my day: After a day of being followed by a news crew, I booked a pilot presentation and was watching myself on tv. Happy sigh.

We sat and I got the auditioning lowdown: The director said he could've cast it after the first day of auditions. "The role was yours since your first audition," he said.

SWOON!

Best Week Ever!
